How Old Does Your Male Dog Have To Be In Order To Get Him Fixed?

Does your dog have to be old or can you fix it young?

I'm a vet technician, and the standard age to neuter a dog is at 6 months.
There have been times when there is a medical problem that could make the procedure be pushed back or ahead, but the majority of dogs can be spayed/neutered at 6 months old. Doing it later in life (after a year or two) puts them at risk for serious medical problems.
