What are the differences between Republicans and Democrats?

Sunday, 19th October 2008

I know the obvious differences but am looking more for a somewhat detailed response.

Domo
Republicans are individuals against the preservation, or restoration of a type of government, where a supreme power is actually or nominally lodged in an individual. This individual is usually a head of state for life, or until death.
A democrat is an individual who believes that the supreme power should be held by the people under a free electoral system. 'The Power of the People', as defined under the democratic system, insists on the strength of a nation through equality of its citizens, that there is true representation on the government level. In other words, there must be consensus among all representatives for any decision to be enacted.
